6 Summer Outdoor Recreation Tips
It's 36 degrees Celsius here today (96.8*f) so it's a great reminder that summer is just around the corner. Here are 6 tips for summer outdoor recreation:
- Water sports are cooling so consider: kayaking, snorkeling, swimming etc.
- Consider shade. For example a walk or bike ride in the forest will be cooler than a walk in a more desolate area that lacks shade.
- Pack lots of water. No matter what exercise you do in summer ensure you bring a water bottle!
- Start early. It's worth setting your alarm and getting intense exercise in well before the day reaches its maximum temperature.
- If doing multiple activities in one day, start with the warmest activities early and the cooling water activities later once the day warms up.
- Always apply sunscreen and if possible wear a hat and clothing that covers as much skin as possible to prevent sunburn
Today we had a couple of active hours before it was even mid morning. We started with the warmest activities and finished with swimming.
So it's still possible to enjoy outdoor recreation in warm weather but always think about your safety first!
