Swing a Hoe - it's great exercise!

Revamping our garden has been a major project in 2023. When we moved into our home in January 2023 it had been rented out to good tenants for 5 years but they clearly weren't gardeners! The shrubbery had run rampant!

So we're regularly in the garden pulling out plants and revamping garden beds.  Today we worked on an area that had plantain trees.

At days end it is ready for a few sprinkler pipe repairs then replanting! But it took a lot of hoeing. About 90 mins of hubby and I taking turns with the hoe. And his dad was chatting to us whilst we worked which was nice.  He has dementia and is staying with us whilst his wife travels in Europe.
So it was a great workout! We were dripping in sweat and it is only 18 degrees Celsius!
This is the third phase of the revamp prep in this area of the garden:
Stage 1: cut back shrubbery amongst the plantain trees
Stage 2a: cut down the plantain trees
Stage 2b: Roundup the stumps
Stage 3: stump removal!
Now we have a few sprinkler pipe repairs to do tomorrow before we can put down weed matting, replant and mulch.
