Leisure vs Obligation
We spend most of our time on activities we are obliged to do such as work, home maintenance, household chores, etc. This might be unavoidable but what time is left is our leisure time for rest, self care, mindfulness and recreation.
Zoe or tiny dog did enjoy the stops in the shade!
The pool was a little chilly but very refreshing.
A whole Sunday focused on leisure feels like a luxury after six months preparing for our January 2023 repatriation to Australia. But it's soothing my weary soul.
How do you spend your leisure time?
My leisure time is often focused around one of these themes:
- Walking
- Cycling
- Golfing
- Yoga
- Meditation
- Reading
- Baking
- Kayaking
- Thrift shopping for antiques
Today's leisure time was spent a few different ways:
- A long dog walk
- A quick dip in the apartment complex pool to freshen up
- A lay down on the bed to read a book
- A movie afternoon/evening

Leisure time is important in this hectic world.
