Today I teach!
Today I teach my first adult yoga class for the Town of Castle Rock at their rec center. My kit is packed in the car ready. I recently made this yoga teaching tote bag, it contains:
- Yoga mat
- 2 yoga blocks
- Half foam roller
- Yoga strap
- 2 meditation prompt books
- laminated stick figure sequence
- Yoga coaching business cards
- Yoga grip socks
- Sweat towel
I'm wearing gaiam yoga pants and a top from my Bonfire yoga apparel store (link in left sidebar).
The class is called Elemental Yoga; the sequence will begin with seated poses to warm up then progress to kneeling then standing and finish with prone then supine poses. It's my favorite order to create a sequence in.
I plan to have a safety focus each week starting with:
"Forward Fold Safety"
Many poses contain some element of a forward fold. Don't look around to see how much others can fold or compare yourself in any way! You do what's best for you. You may reach hands to thighs, calves, ankles, toes or flat on the floor. It's not a competition. This holds true for any forward fold whether standing or seated.
