Mountain Biking Quarry Mesa

We braved the heat and went mountain biking today in Castle Rock, Colorado!

It was only a 5 mile ride but it was steep and by the time we finished it was about 90*f.

We added on a section of hilly dirt trail through suburbia surrounding the Mesa to extend the 2.9 miles to about 5.

It's a very rocky trail at the top of the Mesa on the north side, which made it a little treacherous!

But the 360 degree views are fabulous!

We really enjoyed the adventure!

It was the first time we had tried our bike rack on hubby's car since he got the new car in November. It worked really well. 

Level: I'd rate Quarry Mesa for intermediate to advanced MTB riders due to the large rocks on the north side trail.

Parking/accessibility: 8/10

A bathroom & picnic/park facilities are available at Rhyolite Park which is the best parking location for this ride. 

This would be an excellent hike in Spring and Fall but I'd avoid it in summer because there is no shade.
