New Ride & Read Title

I have finished reading Kamala Harris' book The Truths We Hold! Click on my Ride and Read tab to see what I thought of the book!

The next book is Year of Yes it's by Shonda Rhimes:

It's in the book bag on my indoor cycle trainer just waiting to be started next time I work out!

But before I leap into that book I wanted to share 3 fabulous things I read about in Kamala Harris' book that really resonated with me!

She quoted this amazing speech:

She wrote about the gay weddings at San Francisco City Hall in June 2013 after the supreme court ruled on prop 8:
As I read about that amazing day I was proud that I had actually been there on that day! My youngest son and I were in San Fran for the Pride Parade and when we saw the gay weddings begin on the news we walked to City Hall to watch, it was an amazing experience!

And she wrote about "anticipatory grief" it was something I had never heard of but I had experienced! I reflect now on the difficult last few years of my mother's life and I know I was struggling with coming to terms with her inevitable death for at least three years before she died. Watching her age into a frail wisp of a woman was heartbreaking.

Reading is an amazing experience if you have the right book in your hands! If a book isn't interesting then pick another one! My year of reading books by minority authors has already been fabulous, two amazing books by inspiring women have renewed my love of reading! And as a bonus Ride & Read ensures I can get exercise whilst reading a great book!
