Worthy Wednesday

We are almost 2 weeks into the new year! I am not a fan of new years resolutions but I do set new goals every year! This year my fitness goal is to build core strength.

So far so good, I invested in a new Feet Up trainer and am working most days on a year long plank challenge. To supplement that right now (mid winter) I also walk and indoor cycle:
I am such an obsessive person creatively that finding consistent time in my day to 'workout' has been a battle for years but in January 2021 I read Stacy Abrams book Lead from the Outside. One thing really stuck with me:

Quote: "I reject the idea of work-life balance. It is a myth." then later goes on to say "The relentless pursuit of this unachievable end results in hours of self loathing "
She explains that balance presumes the even distribution of weight! OMG that is a revelation!

That doesn't mean you can't keep trying to find the fitness regimen that suits your lifestyle and helps you find a place in your routine for healthy rituals like working out. I hate running and I don't have joints that can handle it at my weight, so that would never be my chosen cardio, but I do love cycling so that helps me to gain fitness particularly in the warmer months of the year. If I had never discovered that love of cycling I can't imagine what my weight would be by now! Try new things until you find the activity that you enjoy.
