Back to it!

After a nasty migraine Sunday and a more restful day in my home gym Monday, I was back to it today!

I can do two minutes straight on my Feet Up trainer now! And I did that five times today!

That is terrific progress after only owning it 2 weeks! I'm still thrilled with my new fitness toy!

I did a full-on 19 minutes of 'Ride and Read' according to my Garmin watch:

I also hung up all my new fitness posters:
There are quite a few and each one features a different style of exercise:

  • Yoga
  • Stretching
  • Dumbbells
  • Resistance bands
  • Swiss ball
  • Medicine ball
  • Foam roller
  • Kettlebell
  • Body weight
I'm planning to choose a new move off a different poster each day for now and do it with my usual workout.

I try not to buy a ton of fitness stuff in January! The "January Effect" is well known for anyone who has worked in the fitness industry! (I worked at a Curves gym for a year before we moved and the commute was untenable). January is a busy month for gym memberships usually and I'm sure it also affects purchasing statistics for workout clothing and equipment! Try to avoid big spends in January, workout for you and your health not for the new fitness toys.

So far this January I did buy a few things though:
  1. Athletic socks (had needed them since before pandemic but was waiting to buy in store, I got sick of waiting because my socks were creeping down into my shoe as I walked and that's super annoying!)
  2. New shapewear underwear for everyday (again had needed them since before pandemic, but I got sick of waiting to shop in-store)
  3. New resistance bands (my old one snapped early in January, so I was replacing a worn out item)
  4. Workout headbands (that's more about my hair being at an awkward length in the growing it out timeline since I cut it all off to go grey gracefully)
  5. Kayaks/life vests/whistles (bucket list outdoor recreation items that I KNOW we'll love)
  6. Dog stroller with buggy organizer to take our aging dog on longer walks which we love doing on weekends (again this was a replacement item, the brake on the old one broke)
  7.  Workout pants had been needed since pre pandemic and I finally decided to buy online rather than wait for safe in-store shopping. I found harem pants I love & yoga pants that'll do 🤣😂
  8. Feet Up trainer (bought for medical reasons in a hope of reducing nerve pain on my scalp, January is a coincidence, I would've bought one anytime of year if I knew they existed but I just recently learned of them)
  9. Fitness posters (been on my want list a while but reorganizing our gym room moved them to the must buy list)
So most of this stuff isn't attributable to the January effect, but it's all helping me be active! Yay.
