Adaptations and accommodations to suit YOU!
The mainstream fitness industry isn't really geared towards the curvy people in society, I truly think that is because there is a perception that we don't stick to fitness regimens in the long term. That of course is a misconception! So I wanted to share with you an adaptation or accommodation that has enabled me to use my Feet Up trainer independently:
It is okay to be a work in progress, it is okay to say "I can't do that without some specific accommodations because of my individual circumstances" sometimes a slight change to the way a super fit trainer does something can make the activity more widely available to a broader group of participants.Have you ever done a fitness video where the trainer says "and if that is beyond your fitness/ability try this..." and you found even their modified version is still beyond your ability? It is an absolute bug bear of mine! That is why curvy, fuller figured instructors and influencers are needed in the fitness industry! I am not a fitness instructor but I will share any info I think could help fellow curvy fitness enthusiasts.
You know your body best. I knew I was wasting energy trying to get up, so I was tired by the time I was up! This small change conserves my energy for the inversion whilst allowing me to gain the strength I need BUT slowly at a pace that suits me!
