Ankle Injury - Darn!

A few days ago I was walking; in a straight line on a flat concrete surface and I didn't stumble or misstep but I suddenly got an awful pain in my left ankle. We are 5 days away from moving out of this temporary apartment and road tripping to LA in preparation for our repatriation flight back to Australia on January 15th. So the timing isn't great.

I'm resting it as much as I can ATM and elevating it when sitting. I'm also using a medical boot when I'm active during the day.

I seem to have developed anterior ankle impingement, here's a couple of articles describing it.

Due to my hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) diagnosis my ankles and hips are my least stable joints and are prone to issues such as subluxation, injury and episodic pain.

So because of my  HSD, I'm wearing that medical boot for a few days to stabilize the joint and will back off on some of the low impact cardio I was doing in favor of moves that are standing still or very slow & controlled movements.

Examples of safe cardio I'll be doing:

  • Standing or seated crossbody punches
  • Standing or seated uppercut punches
  • Standing or seated forward punches
  • Reclining bicycle legs
  • Seated windmill legs
  • Standing crossbody upper reaches
I'll also do some yoga and wall push ups.
