Juggling Multiple Yoga Teaching Jobs

One of the more complex parts of yoga teaching especially for a newer yoga teacher is juggling multiple jobs and employers. Some employers only want you to teach an hour or two a week, but you are able to take on multiple contracts. So it is important to have an effective way to track work hours/days/commitments.

I have just signed on with a third employer! They will have multiple opportunities for me to teach, mostly short term roles but a variety of ages/organizations/areas.

This is the new employer:

And I already work for:

https://www.athletesglobal.com/ and http://crgov.com/1673/Parks-and-Recreation

It is a delicate juggling act!

So if you are considering this as a career make sure you take into account these factors.
I live by my Google calendar! I also create a digital folder for each employer to keep things organized when it comes to timesheets/staff guidelines/documentation etc. Thankfully my income is a second income for our family so I don't need to work full-time. I think finding enough consistent work in this industry to make a livable wage could be difficult for many YTT graduates.

Tips for Effectively Juggling Multiple Teaching Jobs:

  1. Use a digital calendar
  2. Set cell phone reminder alarms for your commute time
  3. Store documents for each job in different files (regardless of whether they are digital or hard copy).
  4. Set calendar reminders for when to lodge timesheets
  5. Make up a paper class schedule (in case you lose you cell phone or something!)
  6. Know when to say no! Don't take on more classes/roles than you can handle.
  7. Try to create a regular schedule and make it a routine to ensure you aren't frazzled.
  8. Be consistent, reliable and practice good communication with employers.
